A 23-YEAR-OLD man was pronounced dead after he was found outside a city centre property in Newport on Saturday, according to police.
Clifton Place, opposite Newport Cathedral on Stow Hill, was taped off while officers examined a house on the street.
On Sunday a spokeswoman for Gwent Police said that a man from Newport had been found outside a property on the street after 8am and was pronounced dead after he was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital.
Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder but was later released without charge.
Clifton Place was reopened on Saturday at around 11am, but officers were in the terraced house, opposite the Cathedral Court flats, before 9am.
Police would only confirm on Saturday that there had been an "unexplained death."
One woman, who did not wish to be named, said she had woken up to find police officers in the street, and had been asked if she had heard anything unusual at 4am-5am.
"I hadn't, and I've no idea what has happened, but it's frightening," she said.
