TWO young friends went for the chop in aid of St David’s Hospice Care and the Little Princess Trust.
Alena Griffiths and Jessica Green, both seven, of Maindee, decided to get their long locks cut off while raising some funds for charity.
The hair they had cut off will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
The charity haircut was carried out free of charge at Root 66 Hair Company, Newport, by hairdressers Tracy Nelnes and Lauren Seal. Ms Seal is a friend of Jessica’s mum Stephanie Huish.
Before the cut, the girls’ hair reached down to their waists, but now they have had it cut to shoulder length. Alena’s mum Julie Griffiths, who is assistant manager at the St David’s Hospice shop in Maindee, said: “I am guessing that Alena has had around 17 inches cut off. I’m proud of them doing this for charity.”
