CHILDREN and staff at a Pontypool nursery raised £260 by holding a special pink week in memory of the baby daughter of an employee.
Poppies Day Nursery, Maesderwen Road, dedicated the week to the colour in memory of baby Seren Olivia Witcombe who died in July, aged seven months, after being born three months premature.
Seren’s mum Sian Evans is the officer in charge of toddlers at the nursery.
Activities included the children painting pink pictures and dressing in pink for a special pink tea party.
Cake sales were also held to add to the funds raised, which will be donated to the neonatal unit at Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital, which cared for Seren during her short life.
Ms Evan said: “It has been great to see all the support from the staff and parents.”
