A MAN was found guilty of being involved in a joint enterprise to rob a Valleys takeaway.

Jurors at Cardiff Crown Court took just under a hour and a half to convict Daniel Burston, 24, of Llanarth Road, Pontllanfraith, of the robbery at Taste of India, High Street, Pentwynmawr, following a trial.

Burston, who had denied robbery, cried in the dock as the verdict was given.

The court had previously heard how the robbery on April 22 this year was a joint enterprise between Burston, Kyran Peplar and Jacob Loisz with Burston being the getaway driver.

Peplar, 22, of Oakland Terrace, Crumlin, and Loisz, 19, of Quantock Drive, Risca, have already pleaded guilty to robbery with Peplar also admitting possessing an imitation firearm with intent to burgle.

The court heard how customers at the takeaway could see only the eyes of two masked men as they robbed owner Mohammed Uddin of £300.

A metal construction hammer and a two-foot double barrel gun were used but neither of the weapons has been recovered by police.

Burston's car was caught on CCTV near the robbery scene but Burston had claimed he didn't know his two friends planned to rob the takeaway.

Burston and Loisz are now due to be sentenced on November 2.

Peplar will be sentenced at a later date as he currently faces other allegations not related to this offence.
