TREDEGAR Rugby Club is hosting a fancy dress Hallowe’en party on October 26, in aid of the still-born and neo-natal charity Sands.

The event, from 6pm, is being held in memory of baby Hayden-James Rauwerda from Tredegar, who was born with Edwards’ Syndrome five weeks early on May 10 last year.

Edwards’ syndrome, also known as trisomy 18, is where a child is born with three copies of the chromosone 18 rather than the usual two. It affects one in 6,000 newborn babies with the majority dying before birth.

Hayden-James’ mum Chelsea Roper and dad Barry Rauwerda want to raise money to help create more ‘teardrop suites’ at the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff.

The teardrop suite is where the couple spent their final moments with their baby son.

Tredegar RFC Supporters Club previously raised £1,205 for the neonatal unit through a 1960s themed fundraising night.

Admission to the Hallowe’en party is £3 per ticket or £10 for a family of four to enjoy a disco and karaoke, fun and games, an old fashioned sweet stall as well as a raffle.

The evening will feature an auction that includes a signed Dragons jersey and an autographed snooker cue from Mark Williams and Doug Mountjoy.
