A NEW state-of-the-art library has opened in Abercarn.
Pupils from Abercarn Primary School wrote poems and took part in story-telling at the launch, which was attended by more than 40 people.
The unique project is the result of a partnership between Caerphilly council, the Welsh Government, Seren Group and Carn Limited.
Phase one included the construction of 23 housing units, while the second phase saw the development of the library with 10 social landlord older person apartments above.
“This impressive construction is testament to what can be achieved when strong partnerships are created,” said Councillor Rhianon Passmore, cabinet member for education and lifelong learning.
The minister for housing, Huw Lewis AM, toured the new facility, accompanied by the leader of Caerphilly council, Harry Andrews.
The library has free wifi and a cafe.
