We are all aware of the neglect and under-investment that Blaenau Gwent has suffered.

Since the loss of our heavy industries the people of Blaenau Gwent have been forgotten.

They have been cast aside by an uncaring Labour administration that has become inward-looking and without direction.

But it doesn't have to be like this.

Plaid have issued a number of exciting yet practical policies that could truly make a difference to you, your community and Wales.

I am particularly concerned with the level of crime in Blaenau Gwent, which has led many to live in fear in there own communities.

Plaid Cymru have issued strong proposals to stop the degeneration of our communities and to tackle the crime problem in our communities.

At the heart of the crime problems we face is the lack of opportunities our young people have. We will insist that Blaenau Gwent gets the investment it deserves to ensure jobs and opportunity.

We want to create an atmosphere of respect. We will establish a National Citizen's Service that will allow young people to participate in community and charity projects so that they can see the importance of creating a safe and peaceful community.

These plans are part of a wider programme of government. Plaid have also announced seven key policies that will transform the lives of our people.

An energy plan that will save the planet for future generations, as well as save you money. Affordable childcare for all, helping parents get to work sooner if they choose to do so. Giving each secondary school pupil their own laptop so we can make Wales the most computer literate nation in the world. Stamping out student debt so that young people do not start working life with the burden of debt. Providing grants for first home buyers so that we can help people on to the property ladder. Cutting business taxes and rates so that our small and medium businesses can expand and provide work in our communities. And establishing a new community health service with healthcare available in our communities and tailored to the needs of our people.

Blaenau Gwent is at a turning point: it is up to us to shape our own destiny, to reclaim our communities. Blaenau Gwent has already rejected New Labour locally. It?s time to reject New Labour nationally by voting for a Plaid government. It?s time to make a difference.
