A decent education, efficient health care, safe streets - it's not too much to ask of a Government, is it?

Yet it seems to be beyond Tony Blair's and Rhodri Morgan's Labour governments to get these basic things right.

Liberal Democrats want a first class NHS for everyone, and especially to see proper funding given to our ambulance service, so that when you dial 999 you know you won't have to wait.

Violent crime has doubled under Labour, and at the same time they have under-funded our Police locally. It's just not good enough. I want local people to feel safe walking the streets, that's why the Lib Dems want to give our local Police more staff to tackle crime and anti social behaviour.

I also think we need to give more priority to our environment. Locally, Lib Dems want to see more recycling, and across Wales we are saying no to Labour's plans for more nuclear power stations. I want to see more "green" energy, and the Lib Dems want all our electricity to come from renewable sources by 2050.

It's not acceptable that children are packed into huge classes and unable to get the attention they deserve. Lib Dems want smaller class sizes, a maximum of 25 in primary schools. My children have gone to local schools and the quality of teaching is excellent, but smaller classes mean each child can get more attention, which has to be good. And we need to get rid of student fees - Lib Dems have always said that education should be free, saddling students with debt is just not right.

On May 3rd, you can help me achieve these things by voting Liberal Democrat.

Only the Liberal Democrats can beat Labour in Newport East. The Tories trailed in 3rd at the last General Election and Plaid Cymru had so few votes that they lost their deposit.
