Paul Jones, Newport RFC Full Back, was on hand to make Januaries Bullion Draw. Paul was injured for the cup victory over Bridgend but was able to give the lucky prize winners a great start to 2009.

Newport prop Dai Pattison and his wife brought their 3 week old daughter Jessica to Rodney Parade to see her first game of rugby and watch Dad help Newport to a cup win over Blackwood.

James Knight joined Newport Gwent Dragons last season as Strength and Conditioning Coach, this season his role as been expanded to include the Newport RFC club side. Black & Amber Alliance has taken the opportunity to meet up with James and to ask about his methods. Whilst this article is written from a Newport RFC perspective, James takes the same approach to the regional side as well.

Morgan May, a young player from the Newport High School Old Boys club was our latest mascot and ran out in front of the crowd before Newport put Bedwas to the sword. A focused captain, Andy Coombs, nearly forgot to take Morgan with him onto the pitch but remembered at the last minute and all was well. Morgan came fully kitted out in jersey, shorts and brand new black and amber socks.

FoNR are delighted to announce that we have received membership applications from nearly every member of the Newport RFC playing, coaching and backroom staff. The very few that have so far been unable to complete their applications have pledged to join. This provides not only a major boost to our income, but it demonstrates the esteem that the players and officials hold for the trust and the work that it does in support of Rugby at Rodney Parade as well as Rugby in the community.
