Lauren Returns for Record Breaking Match

Lauren Parry made a return visit as mascot for Newports record win over old rivals Swansea at Rodney Parade. This time she chose captain Andrew Coombs as her favourite player and after meeting up with him beforehand, they both led out Newport for an eight try victory.

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber said he has accepted "mission impossible" as he attempts to win the Eurovision song contest for the UK. The composer of musical hits including the Phantom of the Opera, Evita, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, will pen the UK's Eurovision entry and search for the perfect voice to perform it in Moscow next year.

Friends of Newport Rugby (FoNR) have arranged and funded the repainting of the Rodney Parade Goal Posts. The metalwork was beginning to rust and was in dire need of upgrading.

Friends of Newport Rugby have recently helped the Newport RFC coaching team improve their communications on match days. Some years ago FoNR purchased some radios to allow the coaches to communicate with each other during the game. These have proved to be very successful and so the team manager, Mike Sage, approached FoNR about supplying some more radios so that all of the pitch side support team could keep in contact.

We would like to thank him for giving up his time and speaking with us. “Coombsy” is 23 years of age, he has one young step-daughter with another child on the way, he still lives in Nelson and works as a salesman for a computer software company.
