A Newport estate agency is working with a local foodbank to offer support to people and families in the run up to Christmas and beyond.

Red Key Property Services, in Bridge Street, has become a collection point for Newport Foodbank which gives food to people who find themselves in tough financial situations.

The foodbank is based at Christchurch Centre, BT Compound, Malpas Road, Newport NP20 5PP.

Jamie Langley, of Red Key Property Services, who has been an estate agent in the town since 2010, said: “We became aware of the rising numbers of people needing support from foodbanks to simply get by.

“We were made aware of the fantastic work the volunteers at the Newport Foodbank does and we were very keen to offer our support.

“We will be accepting donations at our office throughout November and December and publicising the work Newport Foodbank does as much as we can.

“The Newport Foodbank is a small charity run by local people for local people and it really is making a big positive difference to many members of the community.”

Jon Slocombe, manager of Newport Foodbank, said: “We are delighted that the work we do to assist members of the community has been picked up by the team at Red Key Property Services and we look forward to the positive contribution that this partnership will make to the people we help each day.”
