Make It Your Business, a nationwide initiative to encourage and support women to start their own business, will feature two Newport entrepreneurs in its first Welsh event.

Heidi-Louise Griffiths, founder of Maykher and Dirty Little Serifs, will be on the panel, sharing her story of how she started her business, and Laura Emily Dunn, founder of LED Media, will be moderating.

Established by entrepreneur, writer and broadcaster Alison Cork, MIYB runs seminars across the country, providing opportunities for women to meet established local female entrepreneurs, learn from their experiences and network with other local aspiring female entrepreneurs in a relaxed environment.

The MIYB seminar is on April 27, from 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Tramshed Tech in Cardiff. The session starts with networking, followed by our panellists’ candid accounts of the highs and lows of starting a business, and then there will be plenty of time for questions from the audience.

Other panelists include Sophie and Hannah Pyrcroft, of Spectrum Collections, former South Wales Argus photographer Betina Skovbro, who is also founder of Brod: The Danish Bakery, and Tanya Lynch, founder of Ease Retreats.

Alison Cork said: "Make It Your Business is a UK wide initiative to encourage women to start their own business, and it works because we are building strong local networking groups that give women the vital moral and practical support they need. As someone who lived in Wales for 13 years, I also have a particular interest in helping to foster enterprise in a country I have come to regard as my second home."
