GENERAL ELECTION: The leaders of the political parties in Wales and throughout the UK are currently engaged in presenting manifestos and policies to secure your vote.

I would encourage everyone who is entitled to vote, to exercise this right. A high turnout is the foundation of a vibrant democracy.

Naturally I would be delighted if you were to vote Conservative. The General Election will allow voters a primary chance to endorse the policies that have revived our economy. It is widely acknowledged signs of the economic recovery are being experienced in all our lives. All political parties seek to end austerity; Conservatives seek to do this without burdening future generations with our debt.

DELIBERATE GRASS FIRES: I am deeply disturbed by the number of incident of deliberate grass fires we have experienced in recent weeks. I was pleased that the Presiding Officer acknowledged the seriousness of this issue, allowing me to ask an urgent question.

It was not the first time I raised these “wicked and senseless” acts, which place our communities and emergency personnel in genuine danger. I acknowledge the dedication and professionalism shown by members of our Fire & Rescue Service.

In addition to being an enormous drain upon our services and public finances, these fires will result in a whole generation of ground nesting birds and animals being lost from these areas.

We need action at all levels of our communities and government to tackle this growing problem

A STUDENTS VIEW: Talking with an 18 year old student from Belarus, who is on work experience in my office, about the hope and aspirations of young Europeans, she wrote: “The world is changing, as well as our lives. For instance, now the combination of words like “the Internet”, “green electricity”, “3D printing” are not concepts that are new to anyone, especially younger generations.

“So what is our future? In ‘The Third Industrial Revolution’ author Jeremy Rifkin argues that ‘technologies and renewable sources of energy are our future, creating a powerful Third Industrial Revolution’.

We need to remember that the future is now and all improvements of the standard of living and quality of life can be done right now if only there is the desire. I believe that the Conservative party at the Assembly in Wales inspires this desire in people, asking them to "think globally, act locally”.
