If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

Clement Attlee. I think he was the finest prime minister this country has ever had. He completely appreciated the miners and the working man.

What is your biggest fear?

I don’t have a fear. I try my best not to fear anything.

Do you have any superstitions?

No, I am not superstitious.

Even my favourite number is number 13.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Oh Lord My God. I’m an avid chapel goer and when I sing that specific hymn it somehow makes me feel ten times taller.

What is the most expensive thing you’ve bought, not including property?

The best thing I’ve ever bought is my trip to New Zealand. That was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

It was from my father on a trip back from London after visiting a Tutankhamun exhibition when I was in my 20s. He told me: “Don’t save for the sake of saving. What is the point of working every day and not reaping the rewards from it?”

What is your indulgence?

Definitely going to chapel.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Not to give so much away.

Where are you next going on holiday?

Saundersfoot or Spain. My daughter has an apartment in Spain so theres an 80 per cent chance we’ll be going there.
