BEN Jeffreys is the corporate director of Pontypool RFC. He is one of the major factors behind the recent resurgence of Pooler.

If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

I've never really liked lifts so if I had to be stuck in one, I would choose my tortoises as they are small and I would feel less claustrophobic.

What is your biggest fear?

The thought of catching the winter vomiting bug, I am a massive germaphobe. I probably wash my hands way more than your average person and duck for cover as soon as anyone around me gets so much as the sniffles!

Do you have any superstitions?

As someone who has OCD, I have a list of superstitions that would turn this five minutes into five hours quite quickly!

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I am not embarrassed to say that I am a big 80's fan and I'd pick Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer. I think I was born a bit too late, I am still holding out for when double-breasted, peak lapel pinstripe suits come back into fashion.

What is the most expensive thing you've bought, not including property?

Other than the usual answer of a car, I would say my golf equipment. I am a classic all the gear-no idea golfer who can accept a bad round on the course so long as I have am wearing a snazzy bobble hat.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given

There are a few pieces of advice that have amalgamated into one that I try to live my life by. Be yourself, don't forget where you came from, be respectful, try your best to do the right thing and to stand by the values that you believe in. As cliché as they all appear, there is a pressure growing up in today's world to conform to a particular mould but I have been at my happiest in life since being myself and doing things in my own way.

What is your indulgence?

Pizza and chips. I have very simple tastes when it comes to food so put that combination in front of me and I am a very happy man. But with it being New Year and setting all these fitness related resolutions, I suppose I will have to indulge less in these, at least until February.

What item could you not live without?

My phone. I would be lost without it.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To probably be less of a Victor Meldrew and to not worry so much about the less significant things in life. Although Victor nearly always stood up for the right things, it can be tiring and I wish I could relax more in general.

Where are you next going on holiday?

I like to visit the Old Swan & Minster Mill in Oxfordshire during the year to get away from it all and I will also be going to Dubai in the summer for my honeymoon.
