Mandelson and Adonis leave cabinet
6:25pm Thursday 20th May 2010
Lord Mandelson and Lord Adonis have stepped down from the shadow cabinet to allow their roles to be taken by Labour MPs, the party has confirmed.
A spokesman said the former business and transport secretaries had relinquished their roles as it was "very difficult" to act as the lead opposition member from the House of Lords.
Pat McFadden and Sadiq Khan have stepped up to take their places in the shadow cabinet.
Rosie Winterton is shadow Commons leader - the role which would otherwise have been taken by Harriet Harman, who became acting Labour leader when Gordon Brown resigned.
Full details of the shadow cabinet have been published on the party's website.
