CONGRATULATIONS MR BROWN: Congratulations to Lliswerry Primary School super-teacher Robert Brown on winning a South Wales Argus Lifetime Achievement award. Mr Brown has educated several generations of local children. Even some of those now in their forties still call him “Sir”. Although officially retired Mr Brown is still a regular feature at the school helping out in any way he can. Hopefully he has a long time left to enjoy the reflection of his well deserved award. Let’s be honest most of us take for granted the job our teachers actually do. Few of us would last a day let alone a lifetime in a classroom full of kids.

OFF YOUR BIKE: To the delight of local residents our local policing team recently arrested a motorcyclist making a nuisance of himself and confiscated his motor bike. As yet there have been no complaints about the peace and quiet that has replaced the noise of the motorbike.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT LONGMEADOW COURT: Changes are afoot at Longmeadow Court complex in Moorland Park and the rumour mill is grinding. Here is the actual situation. The number of residents living in the scheme has been steadily decreasing and there is little demand for the properties from new tenants. With such a small number of residents occupying properties existing tenants have been asked if they would like to move somewhere else. They are taking us up on this offer. No decision has been made on the future of the site. Several options are being considered and local residents in the area will be asked for their comments and views to understand the community needs before any decisions are made.

NUTS ABOUT NITS: Unfortunately, head lice are visiting our schools again. Please check your children’s hair regularly for these visitors – in fact every time you wash your child’s hair. First comb it through with a wide-tooth comb and then with a ‘nit comb’.  If you find any head lice contact your pharmacy /doctors for advice. Yes I know, most of you are scratching your heads.
