MEETING: On Saturday April 22 at the Gwent Federation of Women’s Institute’s Annual Council Meeting, women in Malpas WI were awarded the Marian Martin Rosebowl for Inspiring Women. Val Robinson, Gwent Federation Chairwoman, awarded the Rosebowl to Jane McKenna, President of Women in Malpas WI.
The Rosebowl was awarded to Women in Malpas WI for engaging with the community over the last 18 months by planting a time capsule of hope at Malpas Court, co-ordinating events and funding to enable the first 24/7 defibrillator in Malpas, purchasing a slate to go onto the roof of Tredegar House, assisting Gwent Federation with their digital media aspirations, for continuing to grow their membership and for taking part in Gwent Federation events, such as dressing up and dancing the timewarp at a musical show to celebrate Gwent Federation’s 95th birthday.
Women in Malpas WI meet at Malpas Community Centre on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month.
It is a friendly, young WI and would make any visitors very welcome.
