PONTNEWYDD MALE CHOIR: Fairhill Methodist Church was the venue for the annual general meeting on May 9.

President Brian Davies gave his feedback on the choir’s performance year and congratulated the music team and choristers for outstanding performances.

Musical Director Pauline Carey then spoke and thanked all concerned within the choir for their commitment and for the quality of sound being produced.

There was however a lot more work to be done especially with our annual concert in September together with tour to Yorkshire again September and our concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018.

Finally, our Chairman Ian Evans reflected and summarised the year and gave special thanks to the choirs ladies committee who’s support/ fundraising activities have been outstanding.

Acknowledgement plaques were then presented which included Roll of Honour to Graham Parry and John Carpenter for their forty year plus service, Life memberships to Mark Homan and Neil Dixon for twenty five years’ service and finally a Honoury Vice president award to the ladies committee accepted by their Chair Gwyneth Nutland in recognition of the work they do for the choir.

The meeting continued with reports by the committee job holders on the aspects of the agenda and of course the new committee members were voted in for the next twelve months.

The final part of the evening was the uncontested re-selection of Chairman Ian Evans for a second term of office and the gong being presented to his second in command for next year Lynn Birch.
