CHOIR: Yet another busy month for Risca Male Choir. Firstly a performance at a wedding party in the Great Hall of Caerphilly Castle, it was also a performance with a difference - the happy couple had requested the evening to be totally dedicated to the music of Disney, which the choir duly obliged.

The evening turned out to be a great success with guests showing appreciation with much cheering and yes even dancing.

On Saturday May 20 the choir took part in a performance prior to a rugby match in Risca to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. The match was the brainchild of a Risca man who sadly lost his wife to the disease. The teams included players from all over the world and in particular from South Africa, who themselves lost a former international player Joost Van Der Westhuizen earlier this year.

Joost played 89 times for his country and took part in three Rugby World Cups. Of course the choir sang the South African and Welsh national anthems as the players lined up. As a tribute, all players from both sides wore a number nine shirt - the number Joost wore.

The choir are also busy rehearsing for the forthcoming annual concert on Saturday July 15, news regarding tickets will be announced nearer the date.
