ALWAY PRIMARY SCHOOL: Ben Baklesley has been selected to play as goalkeeper for Newport soccer team. Lucy Blair has been selected to play for Newport Schools netball team.

PENYLAN BAPTIST CHURCH: There are a few places left at the harvest supper to be held at the church at 7pm on Friday, October 5, 2007. The supper consists of a two-course hot and cold buffet followed by tea or coffee and the cost is £6.

HARTRIDGE HIGH GCSE RESULTS: At the top end the school had some amazing results, with more A* and A grades than ever before, and a number of individuals excelled themselves, notably, Tanya Knight, Kirstie Miln, Adam Slaughter, Sam Attewell, Angharard Bishop, Nicholas Johnston. In total 54 students achieved five or more GCSE grades A*-C - the most for many a year.

HARTRIDGE HIGH MUSIC EXAMINATIONS: Four of the school's brass instrumentalists took their Trinity Guildhall School of Music examinations recently, and all excelled with the results as follows: Alexander Walters Grade 1 Merit, Leigh Davies Grade 6 Merit, Lauren Cornwall Grade 5 Merit, Rachel Williams Grade 6 Honours.
