A GROUP of Gwent Police probationers donated £358 to the chest unit research fund of Merthyr's Prince Charles Hospital after taking part in a charity run.

The nine officers completed the annual six-mile Adrian Ellis Memorial Cross Country Run in the grounds of Croesyceiliog School, Cwmbran.

Seventy runners from police forces and running clubs across the UK took part in this year's run, in memory of motorcycle police officer Adrian Ellis who died in a road traffic collision on his way to work in September 1989, aged 29.
