An accident on the M4 has blocked the carriageway at junction 26.

Traffic is stationary after the single vehicle accident at 6.28pm on the east bound carriageway which has blockedthe road between the exit and entry slip roads at J26 (Malpas Road).

The fire service said no-one was injured but due to the very heavy traffic they are having difficulty reaching the scene to clear the motorway.

UPDATE: The road has now been cleared and traffic is easing
