THE face of the People’s Postcode Lottery is preparing to hand out £2 million in cash prizes to people in Newport tomorrow.

Wales rugby legend Scott Quinnell, who now lives in Monmouthshire, says he can’t wait to see the smiles on winner’s faces at the People’s Postcode Lottery party in the Newport Centre.

Lucky residents living in the NP20 3** area of the city who play the People’s Postcode Lottery will each take home a share of the massive cash prize following the October Postcode Millions draw.

The lion’s share of the prize will be handed out to those living in the full winning postcode area, which is yet to be announced with smaller amounts for winners in the NP20 3** area.

Mr Quinnell said: “I can’t wait to present the winners with their cheques and see the smiles on their faces.”

“It’s wonderful because not only do people win cash prizes, but 40p from each ticket goes to a variety of local causes. More than £30,000 is being awarded to projects in Gwent so people can see where the funding is going and find out about the work they do.”

The subscription-based lottery means tickets are based on the person’s postcode.

The amount won by each person is dependent on the number of tickets they have in the draw.

As well as being used for cash prizes, money raised from players also goes towards supporting local causes and charities, with more than £30,000 awarded to projects in Gwent.

The party includes entertainment and starts at 1pm on October 27.
