A MOTHER and baby group in Usk held a fundraising Hallowe’en coffee morning yesterday, raising £130 for midwives in Ethopia..
Babies wore Hallowe’en costumes at the event, which took place at Usk Conservative Club to raise money for the charity midwives@ethopia.
The charity is run by six midwives who organise trips for midwives to travel to Ethiopia to teach basic life support, clean and safe delivery and good midwifery practice to save the lives of mothers and babies.
Two of the charity’s trustees, Emma Mills and Brydon Williams, are community midwives in Monmouthshire and a third trustee, Melrose East, is a lead midwife and educator for Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
Health visitors run a mother and baby group every Wednesday in the Baptist Church, Usk from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
