GIRLS and women from Gwent have an opportunity to see a bit of the world, raise money for a good cause and become a positive role model for others.

Entries for the Miss Wales GB beauty pageant are open, with categories for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18, and women between 19 to 29.

Up for grabs is a place is the Great Britain finals and possibly an all expenses paid trip to Chicago, USA, for the world finals, as well as an opportunity to raise money for the competition’s chosen charity, the Joshua Foundation.

There will also be trips to Australia, Lapland and Mongolia as part of ambassador work for the charity. You could also follow in the footsteps of other well-known Gwent beauty queens.

Cwmbran’s Chloe-Beth Morgan, 26, is a former Miss Wales and Miss Universe GB, while Newport’s Alexandra Morgan, 28, is the current Miss Heart of Wales, a status that also recognises her work for cancer charity Tenovus.

A spokeswoman for Miss Wales GB said the competition doesn’t just focus on physical beauty, but personality, mental beauty and the achievements of young women.
