HELPING HAND: St Julian’s School common room has had a makeover with the help from staff at Lloyd’s Bank
PUPILS at a Newport school can enjoy a bright new common room after a group of bank workers gave it a £2,000 makeover.
Ten Lloyds Banking Group staff paid for paint and worked for a day renovating the room used by sixth form students at St Julian’s School.
Head boy Dan Grimshawe said the transformation of the tired-looking room made a massive difference to the school environment and thanked all those who helped out.
The school is expanding its connections with businesses in the community and business manager Mark Rowland said he hopes to build on the links formed with the firm to explore future work experience and employment opportunities for pupils.
Lloyds Banking Group team leader Gerald Clarke said the team were proud to help out.
The activity was part of the bank’s A Day to Make a Difference volunteer scheme.

Good practical experience, pride in their school etc.
But then probably you'd have had to pay the teachers overtime at highly inflated rates to supervise the kids.
Would have defeated the object.
