THIEVES stole jewellery and cash worth more than £1,200 from a house near Tadcaster.

The burglars walked across a ploughed field to the rear of the house in Main Street, Saxton, between December 29 and January 5, then used a ladder from an outhouse to gain access to a first-floor window.

The offenders stole a Pandora bracelet with charms including angels, children, a Buddha, a church, a pram, and star signs, worth about £700. They also stole two wedding rings, an 18ct yellow gold necklace with a black onyx stone, an 18cm yellow gold bracelet and hundreds of pounds in cash, including a ceramic vase containing £400 in £2 coins.
