TREVETHIN is set to go green with work starting on a community orchard.

Staff from the Life Station, Communities First, Groundforce and the Council’s Regeneration Team worked with local allotment holders to dig the holes and plant the trees.

They also gave advice on how to get involved in community food growing activities and the Life Station will be running a series of courses relating to growing your own food and healthy eating.

The orchard will contain apple, pear, damson and plum trees Chair of Pontypool Regeneration Partnership, Cllr John Marshall said: "The orchard is part of a larger project to improve community food growing facilities at the Trevethin Life Station.

"The project has already seen 38 allotment ‘planters’ installed all of which have been taken up."
