Kind Trevethin teens clear snow from nursing home
3:00pm Friday 18th January 2013 in Gwent news
HEART-WARMING: Tristen Norman, Alex Maloney, Jordan Kinnersley and Anthony Carter
FOUR teenagers from Trevethin cleared snow from the forecourt of a nursing home just in case an ambulance was required.
Tristen Norman, 16, Alex Maloney, 15, Anthony Carter, 19 and Jordan Kinnersley, 15, who all know each other from attending Abersychan School, decided to take on the task after hearing that in a previous year an ambulance wasn’t able to get as close as they needed to Plas y Garn in Pontypool.
They offered their services today to the nursing home who gratefully accepted.
It took two and a half hours for the group to clear the pathways using their own shovels.
Tristen said: "It was our own idea to do it as we know that the residents could rely on medical treatment so they need the pathways to be clear.
"If we are needed in the future we would be willing to help out again."
Pontpool reverend Richard Harrison, who spotted the boys, said: "They have really taken my breath away. It’s heart-warming to see some real community spirit.
"I hope that others are inspired around the borough to do similar."
