Mystery over injured man found in Pantside, Newbridge

MYSTERY surrounds how a 25-year-old man sustained serious injuries at Pantside, Newbridge last night.
Police are currently trying to establish what happened to the man, named locally as Anthony Ford, before he was found at Central Avenue.
Mr Ford was found at around 10pm and taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, where his condition is currently being assessed.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: "We received a call at 10pm that a 25-year-old local man had been injured and he was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, where his injuries are being assessed.
"We don’t currently know how he came by his injuries, we are trying to establish the circumstances."
Nearby Pantside Primary School has been closed for the day while officers investigate the circumstances.
UPDATE: 9.45am
A "VERY SERIOUS" road accident has been reported on Central Avenue in Newbridge this morning.
Gwent Police say nearby Pantside Primary school will stay closed for the whole day as a result.
