A police officer was taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog while making an arrest in Abertillery.
Officers went to the home in Carlisle Street in the early hours of Sunday (January 27) on what police termed "arrest enquiries," when a dog living at the house attacked a female officer sinking its teeth into her.
Fortunately the officer's protective clothing appears to have prevented serious injury as Gwent police said she had sustained bruising and swelling.
A police spokeswoman, said: "In the early hours of Sunday January 27 officers attended an address on Carlisle Street, Abertillery on arrest enquiries "While at the address, a dog living there bit one of our officers. She was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital for treatment and has sustained bruising and swelling."
A 48-year-old man was arrested at the house on suspicion of assault and burglary while a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and resisting arrest.
Both have been released on police bail until March 25.
Police are still investigating the dog attack.
