Landslide closes road near Llanhilleth

A SMALL landslide has closed the Swffryd Hill road (B4471) between Aberbeeg and Hafodyrynys.

A spokeswoman for Blaenau Gwent council confirmed that several tons of material have been removed to make the area safe, but it will be closed until at least Friday, February 1, to monitor unstable areas.

Bus companies and school transport providers have been informed.

Shame there are no road signs warning of the closure !!! Would have prevented myself and 30-40 other drivers arriving at the closure and having to turn around and drive all the way back!

That part of the road is in Blaenau Gwent, surely you don't expect BGBC to get it right. It will take them weeks to find a shovel to move the mess!
