THE RSPCA appealed for information after a starving pony was found in a ditch near Ebbw Vale.

The pony was found in the Newtown district on Friday 11 January near an industrial estate. The pony was found to be extremely emaciated and with severe anaemia.

Despite the treatment given to the pony, her condition failed to improve and she had to be put to sleep.

RSPCA inspector Christine McNeil said: “This pony suffered greatly and she may have been in this ditch some considerable time before she was noticed. We need to find the owner as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018. All calls are treated in confidence.
