Comedian Tony Hawkes to screen film, Playing the Moldovans at Tennis, in Monmouthshire
5:30pm Monday 11th February 2013 in Gwent news
BESTSELLING author and comedian, Tony Hawkes, will be in Monmouthshire to introduce a charity screening of his film Playing the Moldovans at Tennis.
Hawkes will talk about the film, the subject of one of his travel humour books and sign DVDs after the screening to raise funds for his charity, the Hippocrates Children’s Centre in Moldova, which aims to improve the health of children with chronic conditions who are living in socially vulnerable families.
The centre was started by Mr Hawkes using the proceeds from the book after he was inspired by his stay with a Moldovan doctor and his family.
The story charts Tony Hawkes’ latest foolhardy attempt to win a bet, which involved tracking down all the members of the national football team of Moldova and beating them at tennis one by one.
Hawkes, a regular on BBC radio and TV, will be at Catbrook Hall on March 8, with the film starting at 7.15pm before the Q&A session afterwards.
Tickets cost £15 including light refreshments with the film and are being sold on a first come first served basis. To order tickets and for more information email Richard@Cobourne.com
