A PONTYPOOL chef was runner-up in the Junior Chef of Wales final cook-off.
Just a couple of points separated 21-year-old demi chef de partie Toby Hobby, who works at the Bear Hotel in Crickhowell, from winner Chris Tull, 22, junior sous chef at the Castle Hotel, Conwy.
Mr Hobby, who lives in Pontypool, and the other finalists were given three hours to cook a creative three-course meal for four from a list of Wales True Taste award-winning ingredients.
Organised by the Welsh Culinary Association, the contest is sponsored jointly by the Welsh Assembly Government.
