Pontnewydd man stole meat for drug money

A CWMBRAN man appeared at the town’s magistrates’ court on Friday charged with theft from a shop and possession of a class A drug.

Daniel Watkins, 26, of Maendy Wood Rise, Pontnewydd, pleaded guilty to stealing three joints of meat from Sainsbury’s in Cwmbran and possessing a quantity of crack cocaine on February 15.

The court heard he had stolen the meat to sell on in order to fund his drug habit, which he is currently seeking help for.

The meat was recovered by the supermarket.

Watkins was fined £75 for stealing the meat and a further £75 for the possession of the drug.

He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

This'll be Cameron's fault then. We're not giving people enough benefits now even to afford crack. Beastly Tories. Sorry, just thought I'd get it in before anyone else.
