4:10pm Friday 8th March 2013 in Gwent news
GWENT coroner David Bowen returned a verdict of accidental death after a woman from Ebbw Vale was found dead in her kitchen.
Newport Coroner’s Court heard on Thursday, that Sharon Phillips, 43, went to a Christmas party on December 21 and is thought to have come home around midnight.
Her husband, Paul Phillips, had also been out celebrating and had come home at about 2.15am and found his wife on the floor in the kitchen.
He believes he went up stairs with the intention to get blankets to put her on the sofa, but as he was also intoxicated he fell asleep.
When Mr Phillips got up in the morning, he found his wife dead.
The post mortem concluded Mrs Phillips died from upper airway obstruction due to alcohol intake and being unable to maintain airways as she passed out on the floor.
Coroner Bowen explained her blood alcohol level was 267 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood indicating severe intoxication.
A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
