Pair face jail after crime spree across Newport, Caerphilly and Torfaen

TWO valleys men face prison after going on a crime spree which covered Caerphilly, Newport and Torfaen.

Michael Marsh, 25 of Hilary Road, Newbridge, and Zachary Williams, 18, of Vale View, Maesycwmmer, committed a mixture of burglaries and handling stolen goods offences.

They both admitted four offences and denied three, with no evidence offered on these counts and Judge Neil Bidder finding them not guilty.

The pair appeared at Newport Crown Court where they both admitted burglary at Pontypool Accident and Repair Centre on December 13 last year.

They then moved on to Tesco Express, Malpas Road, Newport, where they admitted taking three tills and £1,432 cash.

A third burglary also took place on Malpas Road, where the pair admitted taking sun cream lotions from the Lextan Sun Centre.

Marsh also admitted handling stolen goods on December 13 - a Hyundai Amiga stolen from Newbridge the day before.

Williams said he let himself be carried in a stolen vehicle, the same Hyundai Amiga, which had damage caused to it.

The pair had denied burgling a property in Newbridge on December 12 and taking three cameras and car keys, plus theft of the Hyundai Amiga from the town.

They also denied the attempted burglary of Barnardo’s, Malpas Road, Newport, on December 13.

Prosecutor David Pugh offered no evidence on the charges they pleaded not guilty to and Judge Bidder found them not guilty of these.

Marsh was remanded in custody and Williams granted bail ahead of sentencing on April 2.

Judge Bidder warned them: "The likelihood is prison."
