A MAN was arrested and bailed after a car hit a woman in Pontypool.

The 34-year-old local woman was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, after the collision near a bus stop in Glan Torfaen Road at around 9.48am last Friday.

She has since been released.

The 24-year-old driver of the car involved was arrested on suspicion of theft, being unfit to drive through drink or drugs and aggravated vehicle taking without consent.

He was charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood and has been bailed for the other alleged offences pending further inquiries.
