EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison said she was more nervous about meeting her childhood hero Donny Osmond than performing on stage in a new singing show.

The actress is one of six celebrities lined up to perform in Your Face Sounds Familiar - with Donny one of the judges.

The ITV show, presented by Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness, challenges the celebrities to transform themselves into a different singing star chosen at random each week.

The six performers - Alexander Armstrong, Denise Lewis, Bobby Davro, Emmerdale actress Natalie Anderson, presenter Matt Johnson and Cheryl - will be judged by a celebrity panel.

And the former soap star is already worried about coming face to face with the Puppy Love star when he appears on the panel.

She said: "The world does not exist because my eyes will be on Mr Osmond."

The actress, who was a member of Osmond's fan club and painted her room purple when she was a child because it was his favourite colour, said: "If I see him I'm not quite sure what I'll do."

But she said her first performance - as pop legend Dusty Springfield - had calmed her nerves because her trademark beehive wig reminded her of her dead mother.

She said: "When we've had the certain wigs and make-up on I just said it's like looking at a reflection of my mum and I just thought she's here, it's OK, it's cool, it's meant to be."
