A CHARITY event organised by two Cwmbran sisters has raised over £1,000.

Two years ago, the Cwmbran sisters set up their own business called Crystall-Itt, which personalises items such as shoes and phone cases using diamantes.

Jodie Edwards, 29, and her sister Sarah, 28, wanted to give something back to the community following their business success.

So, they decided to support the children’s charity Sparkle based in Newport by hosting a Halloween fun day at the Football Factory in Cwmbran on October 26.

Jodie said: “We had an amazing day and it was constantly busy with over 300 people passing through the doors.

“We raised £1,060.30 for the charity, and we hope to raise more by holding events in the future.”

The girl’s successes include designing shoes for Jodie Marsh, and phone cases for former glamour model Samantha Fox and Eastenders’ Danniella Westbrook.

Both sister lead busy lives, both working at River Island in Cwmbran.

Also Jodie is a mother of four, and Sarah, 28, is expecting her first child.

Jodie said: “We are both really pleased that the business has taken off, and I work on orders before taking the kids to school, work at the shop, and work on more orders after I have put them to bed.”

Jodie had the idea for the business while on maternity leave, and with time on her hands, she started personalising cards and soon started on to bigger items.

She put her designs on the internet and was surprised when people asked her how they could get their own.

As each shoe is personalised for each customer it takes up to nine hours for one pair of platform heels and two hours for a pair of trainers.

She added : “Our dream would be to have a shop and do it full time, but at the moment we are happy making original items as a hobby.”
