THE A4042 Kingsway is currently closed due to a police investigation.
Gwent Police officers discovered a man lying in the road at 3.30am this morning.
The man was conscious but had sustained an injury to the back of his head and was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital.
Police have closed the road to conduct a full investigation.
It is unclear when the road will be re-opened.
