AROUND 80 children took part in the nativity play at Caldicot’s Castle Park Primary School this week.

Dozens of proud parents and family members turned to see their children take on a starring role in the production Christmas Eve In The Toy Shop – the story of the Big Ted and his friends, who come to life when the clock strikes midnight.

The toys spot the nativity scene that the toy maker has been working on and decide to put on a show as a gift for baby Jesus.

Children were dressed in a variety of home-made costumes ranging from Dancing Dollies to Jumping Jacks with lead toys including the Toy Maker and Big Ted.

Head teacher Kay Ford, who was celebrating her first Christmas as head of the school, was delighted with the plays success.

“The children have been very excited. The play was organised by reception teacher Hayley Powell along with year one teacher Lucy Bayliss and year two teacher Mostyn Jones. This is our Christmas production and they did really well on their first performance. We have had a lovely turn out and parents have been very supportive.”
