South Wales Argus: DUE TO PLEA: Michael Bisi of Ebbw Vale DUE TO PLEA: Michael Bisi of Ebbw Vale

A VEHICLE fitter is set to enter his plea over a charge of causing the death of a cyclist in Crumlin in the new year.

Michael Bisi, 60, was driving a Mercedes when a collision allegedly happened on the A472 Hafodyrynys Road on August 12.

Markham grandfather Paul Jones, 60, was taken to Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport but died the same day.

A post-mortem examination concluded Mr Jones died of blunt trauma to the chest, involving rib fractures and lacerations of the heart.

Bisi, of Western Terrace, Ebbw Vale, is charged with one count of causing death by careless driving.

He appeared on bail at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday.

Mr Jones’ family paid tribute to the keen cyclist after the death.

His heartbroken wife Angela said at the time she could not imagine life without him.

She added: “He was not your average 60 year old. He was super fit and looked many years younger than his actual age.”

He also left behind a son, Paul, and two grandsons Joshua and Samuel.

Paul Jr said his dad was called “the robot” due to his “endless love of working”.

Yesterday, Cardiff judge Stephen Hopkins, QC, bailed Bisi to January 13 on condition he lives and sleep at his home address.
