TINY Rebel, Newport’s only microbrewery, is starting 2014 with the launch of a new collaboration beer with West Sussex brewers, Dark Star.
This New Zealand Saison 6.5 per cent ‘Rebel Alliance’ will be available in limited keg & extremely limited cask.
Dark Star have been brewing for around 15 years and came from similar beginnings to Tiny Rebel.
“We brewed in December and have been cementing all over Christmas,” said Tiny Rebel director Bradley Cummings, who established the brewery with brother-in-law Gareth Williams in 2012.
The Newport brewery has gone from strength to strength in the last 18 months culminating in the opening of its first premises, The Urban Tap House on Westgate Street, Cardiff, in October last year. The firm also brewed a Goldie Lookin’ Ale, named after the GLC, last year, while last week they began exporting to Singapore.
The new beer will be launched at the Urban Tap House on January 16 and Mr Cummings added: “It’s a beer we have never done before.
“Saison is a French-style beer. A bit yeasty. We have had a few and they are really nice beers.”
