UPDATE: 9.15am

FIRE crews responded to three accidents on the M4 this morning during rush hour.

Crews were called to an accident on the M4Westbound Magor to Coldra, involving a lorry and a car.

Those involved were said to be safe and well and fire crews did not have to help release them from their vehicles. Tailbacks and queuing were caused by the accident, but traffic has now returned to normal.

Another car collided with the central reservation of the M4 Eastbound Rogiet to Newhouse at 6.56am. Crews from Maindee, Malpas and Chepstow attended the incident, which involved just one car, but again the person involved had been able to free themselves before emergency services arrived.

A third car collided with the central reservation on the M4 Eastbound Pencoed to Miskin.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman urged drivers to take care as poor visibility, rain and surface water are making driving conditions poor.

SLOW traffic is reported due to an accident involving three vehicles on the M4 westbound between J23A at Magor and J24 at the Coldra.

Lane two was blocked by three vehicles that collided. Other drivers helped and moved all the vehicles to the hard shoulder.

The opposite carriageway is also slow as traffic slows at the scene.
