The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning of snow for Blaenau Gwent and Yellow Warning of ice and rain for the whole of Gwent

The main entrance to Caldicot Castle Country Park from Church Road, Caldicot will remain closed for at least the whole of today due to a tree which is a risk because of the high winds.

Monmouth Driving Test Centre is closed due to flooding.
Tests are operating from Market Car Park today  but the centre has advised to check whether your test for this week has been cancelled.

A465 Blaenau Gwent - Very slow traffic on A465 Heads Of The Valleys Road in both directions between Rassau Roundabout in Tredegar and Brynmawr Roundabout in Brynmawr, because of snow. Drivers are advised to pproach with care.

Blaenau Gwent council has announced Brynmawr Foundation School has closed due to heavy snow fall.

At Parc Bryn Bach in Tredegar the park gates, visitor center, cafe and driving range are open as normal but  the golf course is closed due to the snow. The paths around the site are also very hazardous.

The council is advising residents that information regarding gritting routes and where to find your nearest salt bin can be found at the council website.

A spokesman said: “As of 6am this morning our gritting teams have been out completing their assigned routes.
"If you have any further queries, please contact C2BG on 01495 311556.”

The A4042 in Abergavenny remains closed in both directions between Hardwick Roundabout and the B4269 Llanellen junction, because of flooding. Diversion in operation - B4269 via Llanfoist.

The A4077 remains closed in both directions between Crickhowell and Gilwern Roundabout, because of a fallen tree.

One lane is closed on the Old Severn Bridge between J1, A403 (Aust) and J2, A466 (Chepstow), because of strong winds and restrictions. Matrix sign set to 40 mph.

A spokeswoman for Monmouthshire County Council said their operations teams are clearing a tree down on the A466 between Redbrook and Wyesham.

One lane open on Nant-y-Derry Road, between Llanover and Goytre
The old A40 from Raglan to Abergavenny is closed due to flooding

A Western Power Distribution spokeswoman has confirmed that 14,700 customers in South Wales are currently off power supply.

She said Western Power has currently dealt with 415 incidents and since yesterday afternoon power has been restored to over 30,000 homes in South Wales.
Western Power Distribution spokeswoman has said: “We aim to restore all customers by early evening but access has been difficult to rural areas in current weather conditions.”

FIRE crews rescued a driver from their car which was trapped in floodwater at Newbridge on Usk, Monmouthshire, this morning.

Boat crews from Usk, New Inn and Malpas, were called to the scene near Newbridge Inn at 6.52am after the car was stuck after driving through floodwater.
Crews managed to push the car to safety by 7.27am.
No one was injured.

This section of the Newbridge on Usk road is now closed off.

The Wye reached a peak level at Monmouth of 4.7 metres yesterday, while the river went up to 4.8 metres at 1am this morning.

The river levels are expected to remain high through the morning the Environment Agency said.

The rowing club underpass gates have been closed.

My heart goes out to those who have been deemed less important that birds and wildlife by the EU policy to encourage wetlands- which the environment agency enacted.

It seems our elected scumbags have decided that their only response is to tax the weather by blaming it all on global warming. Insult to injury and no-one has any say in these decisions...
