FIRE crews tackled two deliberately set grass fires near Cwmbran and Abergavenny on Sunday night.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service control room said crews were called to the Gilwern side of the Blorenge at around 9.50pm.

Firefighters from Brynmawr and Blaenavon tackled a grass fire 60 square metres in size. The fire was out by 11pm.

Earlier that evening, at just after 8pm, crews were been called to a grass fire 200 metres in size on the mountain near Upper Cwmbran's Bush Inn.

Firefighters from Cwmbran had put out the fire by 9pm.

Both fires were deliberately set, according to the fire service control room.
