TWO people were found guilty of causing the death of Pontypool cyclist, John Reeder today.

Deon Morgan, 20 of no fixed abode and Andrew Vass, 26 of Upland Drive, Trevethin were both found guilty following trial at Newport Crown Court today.

Kieran Allcock, 18, of no fixed address, was found not guilty.

The incident happened on the A4043 in Pontnewynydd in the early hours of August 7. The court previously heard how Mr Reeder 63, who died from severe head injuries after he fell from his bike, was trying to get away from the defendants.

All three were accused of working as part of a “joint enterprise” which says they acted together in the crime.

A fourth defendant, Casey Coslett, had already admitted manslaughter.

DCI Richard Williams of Gwent Police said after the verdict: "John Reeder was chased, obstructed and knocked off his bike the morning of his death and all three individuals had a part in that. Whether they had realised the consequences or not, it was inevitable that John would have come to some harm.

"John must have felt threatened and scared in his last moments and it is only right that these three have been convicted for their part in his death"
